Who We Are

120+ years of electrical training excellence.

IBEW Local 193 was founded in 1901 to protect the rights of electrical workers, and our JATC was established to train the next generation. For over 120 years, we have been driving excellence in electrical education across Central Illinois.

Today our state-of-the-art Springfield Training Center offers two elite programs โ€” the 5-Year Inside Wireman apprenticeship and the 3-Year Telecommunications Technician apprenticeship. Both combine paid on-the-job hours with classroom instruction tailored to the specialty, and graduates enter the electrical field as highly skilled IBEW journeymen.

Our instructors are seasoned professionals who train using the latest techniques and National Electrical Code standards. Our curriculum is continually updated to cover emerging technologies and innovations.
