Application Required Materials

Here is a list of items needed to apply for the IBEW apprenticeship program:

Application Form – Fill out the application form completely and submit by the deadline.
High School Transcripts or Equivalent – Official transcripts showing graduation, GED certificate, or a two-year Associate Degree or higher.
Proof of Algebra – Transcript showing completion of 1 year of high school algebra with a passing grade, one post-high school algebra course with a passing grade, or evidence of having successfully completed the NJATC Online Tech Math Course.
Valid Photo ID – A driver’s license, state ID, or passport.
Social Security Card
DD-214 – For veterans to verify military training/experience.
Application Fee – A $25 application fee is required (cash, check, money order).
Aptitude Test – Schedule your test session and obtain a passing score.
References – Provide contact information for professional/educational references.

Follow these steps to apply for the IBEW Local 193 JATC apprenticeship:

Pick Up Application – Visit the IBEW Hall at 1 Peoria Rd, Springfield, IL between 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Pay the non-refundable $25 application fee (cash, check, or money order).
Submit Required Materials – Return your completed application with all required documents (transcripts, valid ID, Social Security card, DD-214 if applicable) by the posted deadline.
Schedule Your Aptitude Test – Upon submission you will be scheduled for the NJATC electrical aptitude test. A passing score is required to advance.
Interview with the JATC – Qualified applicants will be invited for a structured interview with the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
Selection & Notification – Selected candidates are notified and must pass a drug screening before official enrollment.
Begin Your Career – Start your 5-year, earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship – on-the-job training with a union electrical contractor plus classroom instruction at our JATC training center.

To be eligible, you must:

Age Requirement: Be 18+ years old
Educational Qualifications:- Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent- Alternatively, possess a two-year Associate Degree or higher
Mathematical Skills:
– Have completed 1 year of high school algebra with a passing grade
– Alternatively, completion of one post-high school algebra course (e.g., Adult Education, Continuing Education, Community College) with a passing grade
– Provide evidence of having successfully completed the NJATC Online Tech Math Course
Aptitude Test: Pass an aptitude test
Physical Capabilities: Be physically capable of electrical work
Drug Screening: Pass a drug screening
Experience: No experience required!
